Nichole, we all miss you. You left us too soon. I wish you had reached out more so we could help with your internal struggles. When I read this, I am reminded of you.

When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.

Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes
And not your mind.

You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.

Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.

Epitaph by Merrit Malloy

Love you kid…

That is the most beautifully written sentiment. I pictured myself saying that to my daughter and it is so very true. Love is all we have, and we have it to give in our life and love lives on in our absence.
My heart breaks for yours and although I have not experienced your pain, I have felt the sting of a loved ones passing.
May you take comfort in the lives that surround you and know that your daughter surrounds you and lives on.

It’s hard being without one of your children….
Nichole’s beautiful spirit really does continue to help others.
I know how much you all miss her presence, but rest assured, she is ALWAYS present.
