Inuk leader Mary Simon named Canada’s First Indigenous Governor General

This is fabulous news indeed! My fervent hope is that she also advises the Government of Canada on improving matters relating to the land, preservation of natural resources and improving the lives of all Canadians, particularly those in remote places of the North and Indigenous Canadians.
I appreciate Ms. Simon’s mention of the Canadian Rangers as she acknowledged the important missions of the Canadian Armed Forces. I fondly remember working with Levi, an Inuit member of the Canadian Rangers, when I served in the Arctic as a platoon leader.
